How it works / Frequently asked questions
Here you can learn how Unseenly works and find answers to common questions about your Space.
Unseenly
What is Unseenly?
Unseenly is a personal space where you can keep web addresses, people, notes and events that you would rather not leave in their usual places.
It is not a social network or a chat, and it does not connect users.
Why should I use it instead of the apps I already have?
Sometimes the issue is not remembering something, but where it is stored.
A number in your contacts, a bookmarked page, a note in Notes or a calendar appointment can be very convenient. But you may not want certain things to be kept there.
Unseenly keeps them separate.
Do I need to install anything?
No.
You can use Unseenly on a computer, phone or tablet without installing an app.
Is it a phone app?
No.
There is no app to install and no compulsory icon is added to your phone.
How can I keep Unseenly out of my browser history?
Open Unseenly in private browsing mode if you do not want it in your browser history.
A website cannot automatically remove its own visits from browser history.
Does Unseenly use device notifications?
No.
Unseenly does not use browser or device notifications.
Does Unseenly read my contacts?
No.
It does not access your phone contacts or synchronise them.
Does Unseenly access my calendar?
No.
Events saved in Unseenly remain separate from your phone or computer calendar.
Can I connect Unseenly to my contacts or calendar?
No.
This is a deliberate design choice: some things need to remain separate.
Can I search for other people who use Unseenly?
No.
There are no public profiles, user searches, friends, followers or suggested people.
If I save a person, does Unseenly check whether they are registered?
No.
A person saved in your Space is simply your private entry. Unseenly does not try to match them to other users.
Can I save more than one contact method for a person?
Yes.
You can add a phone number, email address, web address and other contact methods such as Telegram, Signal, Kik, WhatsApp or other services.
What are keywords?
They are words you choose to organise and find saved items more easily.
For example: travel, personal, to read, Rome, work.
How do I find what I saved?
Each section has its own filters, keywords and sorting options.
For example, you can show only pinned items or filter by keyword. There is no global search on the “My Unseenly” page.
Is my data public?
No.
Everything you save in your Space is private by default.
Is the content encrypted?
Yes.
Personal content is stored encrypted in the database.
Encryption is handled on the server: Unseenly must be able to decrypt data when it needs to display it to you or provide service features.
Does Unseenly analyse what I save?
No.
Content is not analysed for advertising, profiling or marketing.
Do you sell my data?
No.
Are there advertisements?
We currently do not display advertising.
Do you use profiling cookies?
No.
The aim is to use only the technical cookies required for the service to operate securely.
Can I delete what I save?
Yes.
When you delete a web address, person, note or event, it immediately disappears from your Unseenly and its count.
For a few seconds you can undo deletion. After that, the item is permanently deleted.
Can I delete my entire Unseenly?
Yes.
You can permanently delete your Space and its associated data.
The action cannot be undone.
Self-destructing messages
What is a self-destructing message?
It is a message designed to be read only once.
After it is successfully read, the content is no longer available.
Does the recipient need an Unseenly?
No.
They do not need to sign up or install anything.
How is a message opened?
The recipient receives a link and must know the passphrase.
The link finds the message. The passphrase opens it.
Should I send the link and passphrase together?
Preferably not.
Send the link through one channel and share the passphrase separately: aloud, in person, through another channel or by using something you both already know.
Sending everything together rather defeats the point.
Does opening the link immediately destroy the message?
No.
Simply visiting the page does not destroy anything.
The message is consumed only after the correct passphrase is entered and the recipient explicitly opens it.
Why?
Apps, email services, security systems or automatic previews can open a link without the person actually reading it.
Can I send the same message to several people?
Yes, but each person must have a separate copy.
Each copy then self-destructs independently.
Do I have to rewrite the message each time?
No.
Unseenly can create multiple copies of the same content.
Does Unseenly need to know who I am sending the message to?
No.
You do not need to provide the recipient’s name, email address or phone number.
Can I tell whether the message was opened?
Yes.
You can see whether a copy has not yet been opened or when it was opened.
The receipt does not prove anyone’s identity. It only shows that someone with the link and correct passphrase read the message.
What remains after it is opened?
The message content is deleted.
Only a minimal technical receipt may remain, such as the date and time it was opened.
How long is it available if nobody reads it?
During the Beta, an unread message expires automatically after 7 days.
The content is destroyed when it expires. This period may be refined before the final release.
Can Unseenly prevent screenshots or photographs of a message?
No.
Unseenly can destroy the copy stored on the server after reading, but it cannot prevent the recipient from photographing, copying or capturing what appears on their device.
Can I use an event to send details to people?
Yes.
From an Event you can create self-destructing copies containing the information you want to share.
The Event remains in your Space; copies for other people are destroyed separately after reading.
Is it a chat?
No.
There are no conversations, inbox, friends list, online presence or message history.
Can the recipient reply?
Not inside Unseenly.
They can reply through whichever channel they prefer.
Beta
What does Beta mean?
Unseenly is already usable, but the service is still being refined.
Some features may change before the final release.
Does the Beta cost anything?
No.
No payment is required during the Beta.
Will I automatically be charged in the future?
No.
If a paid service is introduced in the future, you will have to explicitly choose whether to buy it.
Will my Beta Space be deleted at the end of the Beta?
No.
Spaces created during the Beta are intended to become legacy Spaces and retain the special limit assigned during this phase.
Will there be a free version after the Beta?
A free version is planned, but its final limits and features will be decided after observing real use during the Beta.
Access
I forgot my password. What should I do?
You can request a recovery link at the email address associated with your Unseenly.
Can I change my email address?
Yes.
The new address will need to be verified.
What if I lose access to my email?
Your verified address is required to recover access to your Unseenly if you forget your password.
That is why it is important to keep it up to date.
Can support manually change the owner of a Space?
No.
To prevent unauthorised access, support cannot manually assign a Space to someone who can no longer prove access using the available tools.
